The parable of the great feast: Luke 14:15-24.
‘A certain man made a great supper and bade many…” So Messiah began to tell a parable of a great feast. A feast in ancient East was an elaborate affair. The invitations were sent out well in advance to the guests, so that no other engagement was fixed for that day. The guest list was large, the preparation were done on a grand scale. There was sufficient food and wine for many guests. On the day of the feast, the guests began to make excuses. They did not come to the feast so the host asked his servants to bring in all the poor of the town. There was still room in the feast so all the people who lived along the highways were also called for the feast so that the house was filled.

Yahweh has also prepared a feast for us—the marriage supper of the Lamb. The invitation is given “Come”. With Elohim it is always ‘Come’. ‘Come into the ark’ (Gen.7:1). ‘Come now, let us reason together’ (Isa.1:18). ‘Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden” (Matt.11:28).
All things are now ready. Elohim has done everything for our salvation. The feast is free to all sinners but costly to the host. His Son’s life was the price of the feast. We do not have to bring anything to the feast. Do not mix the King’s wine with your dirty waters of false doctrines or works or denominations.
He wants us to come to him ‘now’. Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. (II Cor.6:2)

The invited guests did not come. The guests had their own excuses. One purchased a field without seeing it and had to inspect it. Increase in material possessions makes us deaf to the word of Elohim.
Another purchased 10 oxen and had to test them. Oxen would help in increasing his harvest and his status. Pursuit of career advancement makes us worship careers rather than Yahweh.
Another had got married and refused to come. Sensual pleasures have the greatest power over men and blots out everything else in this world. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me (Matt.10:37).

Messiah came into this world and the world did not receive him. The Jews did not heed his invitation. His prophets came with the message of salvation but the Jews killed his prophets. They made ‘light’ of it. To make light of a thing is not to take it seriously. Many people do not value Messiah; they have no interest in him, nor in his blood, or of his love and grace. They ignore his offer of salvation.

So who came to the feast? The poor, who can never repay him, came. ‘Ho every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money, come ye, buy, and eat…’ (Isa.55:1). Salvation is free.
The maimed, deformed people came. People of twisted nature, spiritually maimed. Others may not like them or even be near them but Messiah loves the.
The crippled ones came. They were those who cannot get around by themselves. They probably needed someone to bring them to the feast. Such people cannot come to Elohim by themselves. They need assistance. ‘Your iniquities have separated between you and your Elohim’ (Isa.59:2). ‘For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost’ (Lk.19:10).
The blind came. People who are forever trapped in darkness. They need a guide to lead them. ‘The spirit of Yahweh is upon me …recovering of sight to the blind’ (Lk.4:18).They are the people whom ‘the god of this world has blinded the minds of them that believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Messiah, who is the image of Elohim, should shine unto them’ (II Cor.4:4).

The Jews rejected Messiah so the gospel was preached to the Gentiles. ‘…from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles’ (Acts.18:6). After all these people came, there was still room. So the highway and hedge dwellers, the persons rejected by society, whom nobody wanted, the homeless, hopeless, jobless, purposeless, they were called to the feast. Anyone can come to Yahshua. Salvation is free. There is always room in heaven for one more sinner who repents. ‘..but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance’ (II Pet.3:9).

The house should be filled. Elohim wants all to come to him. We cannot afford to take his invitation lightly. Many refuse. Messiah is calling us. What will you do with his invitation? Do you have an excuse ready? There are many excuses. I am not ready, there is too much to give up, I have to settle my affairs first, and the most common excuse,’who knows what happens after death?’
Do not harden your hearts. There may not be anymore knocking on the door of your heart (Rev.3:20). When Yahweh saw the iniquity of man was great, he said, ‘My spirit shall not always strive with man’ (Gen.6:3).
Have you accepted his invitation? Are you coming to the feast?
